  The new version of a house call! Telehealth and telemedicine just means that you can have a visit with the doctor, or care provider, using your telephone, tablet, computer - or any device that allows for two-way video communication. Sometimes parents of children schedule wellness exams with one of our care providers but prefer to stay home. We have learned to use the power of technology to adjust to these requests. All about telemedicine Can my doctor really examine me using a video? Some people have felt that a doctor can not properly examine a patient using a video. However, We can examine our patients very similarly to having them in our pediatric clinic. We will take temperatures and discuss symptoms. Dr. Marin (DNP) will ask a series of questions to determine whether lab work needs to be ordered or if a prescription needs to be ordered. Will my visit be covered by my insurance? Recently, there are government efforts to expand on access to telehealth and telemedicine because of COVID 19 (corona virus). This means that the government started to push all private insurances, as well as medicaid, to financially cover telehealth and telemedicine visits. • EPSDT Wellness Exams

  Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) is the child health component of Medicaid. Federal statutes and regulations state that children under age 21 who are enrolled in Medicaid are entitled to EPSDT benefits and that States must cover a broad array of preventive and treatment services. The purpose of these well child checkups is to monitor your child throughout the four stages of development: Infancy (birth-11 months); Early Childhood (1-4 years); Middle Childhood (5-10 years); and Adolescence (11-21 years). Regular, well-child visits promote your child's good health and help prevent illness and disease. Each visit is a chance to work with your child’s health care provider as a team, to think about your child and ways to help your child. Some children’s development may fit neatly into these categories, others will not. Talk with your child's health care provider about your own child’s development. As health care providers we expect to work with you as a partner to keep your child safe and healthy; Working together to develop trust and easy communication. This takes time and doesn’t usually happen in just one visit. Sharing information - we each have knowledge the other must have to provide the best care for your child. • Ear Piercing for Kids and Teens

  Get your child's ears pierced in a clean medical environment. What you need to know about getting your child's ears pierced At STCNC we have ear piercing available for children and Teens. We can pierce your child's ears as early as 4 months of age, if approved by the PCP. First set of ear rings provided by STCNC. It's Important not to pierce your new born's ears before the 4 month age limit because your baby is rapidly developing and the piercings may end up not being symmetrical or aligned. Minors must be accompanied by an adult and have parental or guardian permission. Paying for your child's ear piercings Payment by cash or credit card is required at the time of services rendered. We do not accept personal checks.

  In house blood draws for diagnostic and lab tests. We perform in house blood draws for diagnostic or lab tests for our patients. Your doctor or primary care provider may order certain tests to better understand your condition. We can test for: Food Allergies Environmental Allergies We use ImmunoCap for diagnosing and managing upper respiratory diseases. Our in-house lab also screens for: Diabetes Hypothyroidism Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) Any other labs deemed necessary by your PCP Should your child or teen be found positive in any if the above mentioned screening we can create a treatment plan according to your child's needs. We also draw labs to perform ADHD/ADD workups as part of the initial evaluation, and with follow up according to your child's treatment plan. EPSDT Wellness Exams All labs required during your child's wellness exam are done in house. Our Lab Partners Santa Teresa Children's Night Clinic partners with Quest Diagnostics and Clinical Pathology Laboratories (CPL). Most blood work and labs are covered by your insurance provider. The partner lab to be used for your blood work analysis depends on your insurance coverage.

• COVID-19 (Corona Virus) Vaccination

  Make an appointment and get the facts about COVID-19 and the virus that causes it, including how it spreads and new variants. Thank you for your interest in receiving the vaccine with us. We provide the vaccine to children 6 months and older. Currently we have Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. You may choose your preference as long as the clinic has the appropriate amounts at the time of your visit. Please be advised that since we are located in New Mexico, our priority will continue to be the residents of New Mexico however, we will also see other patients. Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing. Ensuring the air around you is well ventilated. Wearing a mask if you're at risk or if COVID-10 hospitalizations are high in your area. Practice good health habits, such as cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces and taking care of your health.

• Flu Shots for Children and Teens

  In the United States, flu season occurs in the fall and winter. The peak of flu season occurs anytime from late November through March. Why should I have my child or teen vaccinated? Influenza, or Flu is a contagious disease that spreads around the United States every year, usually in the fall and winter seasons. Flu is caused by influenza viruses, and is spread mainly by coughing, sneezing, and close contact. Anyone can get flu. Flu strikes suddenly and can last several days; It can lead to pneumonia and blood infections, and cause diarrhea and seizures in children. If you have a medical condition, such as heart or lung disease, flu can make it worse. Flu is more dangerous for some people. Infants and young children, people 65 years of age and older, pregnant women, and people with certain health conditions or a weakened immune system are at greatest risk. The Flu Vaccine Can: Keep your child or teen from getting flu, Make flu less severe if they do get it, and Keep it from spreading to the rest of your family and other people. Vaccination to prevent influenza is particularly important for people who are at high risk of serious complications from influenza. CDC recommends use of injectable influenza vaccines (including inactivated influenza vaccines and recombinant influenza vaccines) during 2016-2017. Both trivalent (three-component) and quadrivalent (four-component) flu vaccines will be available.

• Sports, School and Annual Physical Exams for Junior Athletes

  Sports physicals for junior athletes, school and camp are usually required once a year or before participating in any physical activity for school, sports teams and summer camps. What is a Sports or School Physical Exam? The Specific requirements may vary according to the organization requesting the physical. Our sports or school physicals are conducted by our board-certified nurse practitioner or physician's assistant. During the physical we review your child's medical history We conduct a hands-on physical examination We also provide information regarding concussions and how to tell if your child has one We provide the child's primary care provider with a summary of the visit We will also complete any forms required for sports or school participation Why Does My Child Need a Physical? Regular physical exams provide an opportunity for your healthcare providers to discuss any emergent health issues with children, teens, and their parents or guardians. Physical exams help us make sure that your child is in good health and physically able to participate in school or sporting activities. Many states require physical exams once a year or before participating in physical activities at school, camp or other community organization. What You Need to Bring At the time of the physical you will need to bring with you any required forms for us to complete. Also bring your child's contacts or glasses, if any. Minors must be accompanied by an adult and have parental or guardian permission.
